The best part about doing the Protoss missions such as Whispers of Doom is that it gives you access to Zerg research which you can use to make the subsequent missions much easier.

The only downside is that many times the research can be hard to find. The Whispers of Doom Hatchery Locations are definitely the most secretive research in game.

In particular, the third Hatchery is very-well hidden and is extremely difficult to find. In fact, finding it is very tricky, so I have put together this brief guide to getting to this research location.

First and Second Hatchery Locations:

You cannot miss the first Hatchery - you encounter it and Zeratul makes a comment how he needs to kill them.

The second hatchery can be found by blinking across this ledge south of where the Banelings spawn:

The second hatchery, dead in the picture above, would normally be right next to where Zeratul is standing. You can see on the mini-map that it is in the southwest corner of the map.

Whispers of Doom Third Hatchery

The reason the third Hatchery is so hard to find is because you actually have to get it during the major battle but before you grab the third artifact.

After you wipe out the Zerg forces and kill the Nydus Worms, move your units up on the high ground, like so:

After going up on the high ground, you now have sight so that you can see a new ledge. You can now blink across this new-found ledge:

Next, move to the bottom part of that ledge, another small ledge appears that you can blink onto:

Once you get to this ledge, you can break down the rocks, and then you will finally find the 3rd Hatchery:

With this mystery finally solved, you can go on to complete the mission just like you normally would!

There is no rush and the computer-controlled Protoss will wait for you by the third artifact until you return. I recommend saving your game before the big battle so you can load from that save point in case you are unable to complete the mission.

With these strategies in mind, getting all the research during this mission should be very easy. I recommend doing as many of the Protoss missions early as you can, as this gives you more research points which you can then use on the Terran missions.

The technology and mercenaries you purchase or discover does not help you complete the Protoss missions, so the earlier you can complete these, the better off you will be!
