In this article, I will be going over a step-by-step strategy to unlock
all of the achievements on the Breakout mission in Starcraft 2.
There are two achievements to unlock here: Cool Hand Tosh and Jailhouse
Rock.
Cool Hand Tosh is unlocked just by beating the mission without letting Tosh dip below 100 health on normal
mode.
This achievement is super easy. If you are having trouble with it, just save the game before every obstacle and
if you mess up, re-load it. Attempt each obstacle one at a time and it is quite simple.
The Jailhouse Rock achievement is actually quite easy as well. To unlock this achievement, you have to beat the
mission in under 25 minutes. I actually found the timer to be quite lenient. My first time through on hard I beat
the mission in under 20 minutes.
To beat it quickly, here are some tips:
The #1 key to beating this mission quickly is the unit reinforcements you get from your base. Use Tosh to
support them - do not let them go in alone while Tosh does his own thing.
Whenever your units attack, use Mind Blast on the group of units they are attacking and quickly take them
out. This will free up the units to attack structures.
When attacking a base, your #1 priority is to actually take out the SCVs that are there repairing things.
You can kill them in 2 shots with Tosh.
An example of this is when you are on the perches where units cannot attack you, and you start attacking a
structure or a tank, and an SCV comes over to repair it. Immediately switch to the SCV and kill that
instead.
Next, go for the Siege Tanks, Medics, and Detectors, in that order. You actually want to kill the tanks
first because they destroy your infantry reinforcements quickly.
Sometimes, you will have to just pop your shield, move up with Tosh, kill a Tank, then run out and get
healed by your Medics.
When you get to a new base, make sure you kill everything. Do not move ahead with Tosh.
When you kill structures at a base, you instantly get a base there which spawns more reinforcements, so you
definitely do not want to try to skip ahead to "save time".
Be sure to free both sets of prisoners as well; the extra units will help as you push the final bases.
When you get the Nukes, use them liberally. You get four of them and 1 Nuke kills a detector and all Siege
Tanks. You should be able to place 1 at the choke point (when you first get them), on at the entrance to the
main base, and one at either end of the main base.
That is all there is to it! The Breakout achievements are definitely one of the easier ones to unlock in
Starcraft 2.
